It’s Good To Be Working Again

Gallery

After a couple weeks of sickness and of technical difficulties…and then of having to catch up with all the house ‘stuff’ I had to let slide to deal with the sick…this week … well, since Tuesday…Monday was rough…has been … happy making…

I was able to play in my journal.

My white pen — which is a “wite-out” correction pen — and I are still learning how to work together…

She began her journey as one of my She Who girls —

When I pulled her out to work on her though, I was not really feeling the background or the original message.  She original name was something along the lines of She Who Listens For The Heartbeat…and that just did not resonate with me…between the background being off-putting and her message shifting…I felt that an art journal spread would be a much better way to finish her.

So here she is.

The dark background is tissue paper, all crumpled up and glued down.  The collage papers are actually her original background.  I glued those down, added some white spray ink to push things back.  I stamped using three or four different stamps, using a different color for each stamp.

Then–the dreaded hand-writing…I will find a pen that likes the painted and glued bits and writes prettily on top of them at some point…or else I will learn to write with a very tiny paint brush–either way…one day I will remember I own dip pens and ink … but then again…sometimes the style of font I want to use is not so conducive to dip pens…but we’ll have to see.

I have been studying more artwork lately and digging into all the technique books I own and watching all sorts of videos online…and I know a major shift in my work is coming…I just have to finish these pieces that are already in process and start pulling what I have been practicing together.

Until next time…

    • Oh, yes, I like the white signo…but I keep trying other things as well, trying to find as many options as possible…my pens tend to walk away with my 14yo or my 3yo…so the more things I have to hand, the better off I am…

      • Ah I understand you, my cousins have similar problems with their things going invisible because of their children. And yes trying out other possible things is really a great advantage.
