Down The Rabbit Hole…

down the rabbit hole

Sticking to my own personal rules of engagement with these prompts…and a keen desire not to do a full body just falling down a hole, or sitting in the air with her arms crossed, per some, you know, cartoon versions out there…I decided instead to create the hole as the background…and let the rest flow as it felt called…and the mushrooms growing willy-nilly out of the wall was a must…

She is done on 7 1/2 inch by 9 inch watercolor paper.  The background is a torrent of watercolors overlapped.  The girl and the mushrooms were sketched in using stabilo marks all…then colored with Neocolor I crayons.  I blended the crayon with a tiny bit of turpentine…and let the dry copiously for a bit to make sure the turpentine dissipated.  Then I finished it all off with colored pencil…and a bit of white acrylic paint pen for the eye lights and the mushroom dots.
